Weather25 ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Weather25 mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how that information is used and shared, and the choices available to you. By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
a. Location information. The App uses your device's geographic location to provide local forecasts, weather alerts and related content. Depending on the permission you grant, this may be precise location (GPS) or approximate location (network-based). You may grant "while using the app" access, "always" access, or deny location access entirely. If you deny location access, you can still use the App by searching for places manually. Location information is used to fetch a forecast and is not sold to third parties.
b. Device and usage information. We automatically collect technical information when you use the App, including device model, operating system version, language and region settings, App version, time-zone setting, mobile network type, IP address, crash diagnostics, and mobile advertising identifiers (the Google Advertising ID on Android or the Identifier for Advertisers on iOS). We also collect usage events such as which screens you visit, in-App searches, taps and gestures, and the time spent on different features.
c. Information you provide. If you contact us by email or use a feedback form, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address and the contents of your message. The App does not require you to create an account.
d. Information from third parties. Weather data is supplied by third-party meteorological providers. We send a location (latitude/longitude or place name) to those providers and receive forecast data in return. Advertising and analytics SDKs collect information directly from your device, as described below.
2. How We Use the Information
We use the information we collect to:
- provide and personalize forecasts, alerts, maps and other content;
- operate, maintain, secure and improve the App;
- diagnose problems, prevent fraud and abuse, and analyze trends;
- display advertising and measure ad performance (see Section 4);
- respond to you when you contact us; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
3. Legal Bases (EEA / UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Consent — for personalized advertising, analytics that require consent, and access to your device location. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for security, fraud prevention, and basic measurement of how the App is used.
- Performance of a contract — for delivering the forecast you request.
- Legal obligation — when required by applicable law.
4. Advertising
The App is supported by advertising and integrates third-party advertising SDKs, including Google AdMob and additional ad partners (which may include header-bidding partners, supply-side platforms and ad networks). These partners may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), IP address, approximate location and information about ads you see and interact with, in order to serve and measure advertising.
Depending on your jurisdiction and your consent choices, ads may be personalized (selected based on your interests and prior activity) or non-personalized (shown without using your past activity). The first time you launch the App in a region that requires consent (such as the EEA, UK or Switzerland), you will be asked to make these choices through an in-App consent prompt, and you can change them later from the App settings.
You can control or reset your advertising identifier in your device settings:
- Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising
You can learn more about, and opt out of, personalized advertising at:
- https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
- https://www.aboutads.info/choices
- https://youradchoices.com/control
5. Analytics and Crash Reporting
We use analytics and diagnostics services, including Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics, to understand how the App is used and to detect crashes. These services receive device information, App usage events and crash diagnostics on our behalf. We do not use these services to identify individual users.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- with our service providers (hosting, analytics, advertising and crash reporting) that process information on our behalf under written confidentiality and data-protection terms;
- with advertising partners, as described in Section 4;
- when required by law, regulation, court order or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Weather25, our users, or others; and
- in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case we will provide notice before personal information is transferred.
7. Data Retention
- Location queries are processed in real time and are not stored together with your device identifier beyond what is needed to return a forecast and operate basic caching.
- Aggregated and de-identified usage statistics may be retained for up to 26 months for product analytics.
- Crash logs are retained for up to 90 days.
- Information you send to us by email is retained for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and as required by law.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- request correction or deletion of that information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent — for example, you may revoke the App's location permission in your device settings at any time; and
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information as that term is commonly understood. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 14.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that higher age applies), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from such children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information transmitted through the App, including HTTPS for network requests. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International Data Transfers
The App is operated globally. By using the App you understand that your information may be processed in countries other than the one you live in, including countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those of your country. Where required, we put in place safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
12. Third-Party Services
The App relies on the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you within the App or by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after the changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
14. Contact Us
If you have any questions, requests or complaints about this Privacy Policy or our handling of your personal information, please contact us at [email protected].
